If you could rewrite one flaw in yourself ,a disease you carry or a trait you didn't choose — would you? Most of us would say yes. CRISPR-Cas9 stands for “Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats” is a gene-editing tool ,essentially a molecular find-and-replace for DNA. It was adapted from something bacteria had been doing for billions of years, storing fragments of viruses they'd survived, so they could recognize and destroy them if they ever returned. Scientists Jennifer Doudna and Emmanuelle Charpentier figured out how to hijack this system and point it at any DNA sequence they chose. They won the Nobel Prize in 2020 for it. How it works?
